Connect Plus Services works on behalf of National Highways and Connect Plus to manage, operate and maintain the M25 and its linking roads, including the Dartford-Thurrock River Crossing.

We are writing to let you know about planned overnight closures of the Dartford east tunnel next week, to allow for essential work to the ceiling fans which help ventilate the tunnel.

To carry out this work safely, the Dartford east tunnel will be closed:

  • Monday 24 March, 10pm to 6am
  • Tuesday 25 March, 11pm to 6am
  • Wednesday 26 March, 11pm to 6am
  • Thursday 27 March, 10pm to 6am

The adjacent Dartford west tunnel will remain open overnight for vehicles less than 4.8m (15’-9”) high. Vehicles between 4.8m (15’-9”) and 5.0m (16’-6”) high will be diverted via the M25 clockwise. Important information for drivers of goods vehicles and high-sided vehicles is available here.

There are other closures on the M25 clockwise on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 March, so our east tunnel closures have been scheduled to start at 11pm on these dates. This adjustment will allow additional time for high-sided vehicles to safely cross northbound from Kent into Essex before the tunnel is closed.

The Dartford east tunnel will also be closed overnight between 10pm and 5am on Sunday 30 March, as usual, for weekly tunnel safety inspections and routine maintenance.

If you have any further questions, or would like to know more about this work, please contact the National Highways Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 5000, available 24 hours a day, or via email at [email protected].
