Each year the Parish Council sets aside a sum of money to donate to organisations or groups within the Parish, through either a grant or a donation. The sum allocated comes via the Annual Precept which the Council collects from residents and is available for distribution from 1st April each year.

Applications are accepted throughout the year from individuals (on behalf of a group) or from not for profit community groups, where the grant or donation sought will provide a direct benefit to Darenth residents whether it be for community, education, heritage, environment or quality of life purposes.

In deciding whether a grant or donation is to be made the Council operates the following criteria:

  • Only one application in each financial year for a grant or donation will be accepted from an individual on behalf of a group or a not for profit community group
  • A limit of £250.00 per Organisation will be applied (except for exceptional circumstances that are agreed by the Council)
  • The Organisation must be non-profit making and not an individual
  • Grants and donations will not be made retrospectively
  • The Organisation must be one that, in some way, benefits the local community
  • The Organisation must demonstrate a clear need for financial support by providing a description of the project/activity for which a contribution is needed
  • A set of audited accounts or a suitable financial statement must be submitted to ensure there is a genuine need for a grant or donation
  • Organisations that have only recently been set up and do not have audited accounts should instead provide a financial statement regarding its proposed budget
  • A report on how the money was spent should be submitted to Darenth Parish Council
  • Monitoring may take place

Although applications are accepted at any time, they will only considered four times during the financial year, in the months of January, April, July and October. Consideration of applications will be made at the appropriate Meeting of the Parish Council which occurs on the third Wednesday of the month.

If you think that your organisation may be eligible to apply for a grant or donation please complete an Application Form which is available on request to the Parish Clerk.

If you have any queries please contact the Parish Clerk by email at [email protected]

NB – In exceptional circumstances an application for a grant or donation to an individual may be considered and the Clerk should be contacted for further information.
